Split and Koper

Last day of the cruise! It has been fabulous, we have seen so many things it is hard to remember what was where?!?! That is the real purpose of the blog of course!

So Split was supposed to be canoeing but Carsten wasn't feeling up to it so we skipped it (whew!). After a slow morning we headed into Split to walk around.

It is another UNESCO walled city. Very cute with fun passage ways and plazas with lots of food, drink and shops.

One of four gates to the city.

These guys were singing, the acoustics were amazing. They had quite a suitcase of cash!

Palace and Cathedral plaza.

We had a lovely day and Carsten was feeling fine by the afternoon. Yay!!

We had a day at Sea before the last stop in Koper. We decided to spend the day doing something constructive - a bar crawl! We managed 7 out of 10 bars before going to bed.

How it started:

How it ended:

Today we had a very interesting excursion to Postojna Caves with a quick side stop at Predjama Castle.

The castle is first mentioned in 1295. It is built into the stone cave as a fortified defensive position. It was interesting but we did not get to go in ... Have to come back to check out the secret passage the robber baron used to bust blockades!

The caves were the main destination for the day and they did not disappoint! We rode on a little train about 3 km into the cave system then walk about 1.5 km exploring.

They had a very nice audio guide as you walked along. Typical information about how the stalagmites and stalactites are formed, size of the cave, etc. finally a train ride back out. Very cool!

Back to the ship for lunch then into Koper to have a look around.

Here are the three sights! LOL

... Most important... Gelato!

Off the boat 🚢 tomorrow and onto Venice for a couple of days.

Take care!
Sheri + Carsten
