Getting there.... and itinerary

Good morning from Amsterdam!!

Travel is so fun and romantic (cue sappy music).... Not!

Leaving Houston was fine and the flight was smooth to Istanbul. We both managed to sleep a bit on the overnight flight (thank you Ambien).

Our connection to Amsterdam was a bit late leaving but no problem, or so we thought....

We get to Amsterdam late and it seems as though everyone is experiencing their first day on the job.  I was watching the person driving the jetway - they had no idea where the door was to the plane might be. That took a hot minute.

Finally off the plane and walking 1,000 steps to immigration only to be turned around and led back almost to where we started - very odd. So now our entire plane full of people slam the one, lonely immigration officer.

There was a moment when they had an agent there to open another lane only he couldn't open the door. They didn't have the right keys. Good grief!

Finally we exit the airport and find the hotel shuttle stand to wait for the last shuttle to our hotel at 11:45. Y'all, on the way to the hotel, which is less than 3 miles away, the dude stops for gas! What?!?! I'm tired, let's get to the hotel and you can gas up later!!!!

After a quick cool shower we were in bed by 12:30 am. Ugh.

Goodnight all!

Up early for the shuttle back to the airport, then a train to Amsterdam Centraal to catch a train to Hamburg. My big plan is to sleep on the train.

We are beyond blessed to get to travel and experience all the things - just want to be clear that sometimes things do not go exactly as planned.

A quick look at the itinerary:

Hamburg

Bernkastel, Germany

Rome

Athens

Cruise (Greece, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia)

Venice

Ljubjana, Slovenia

It's going to be incredible!
