Bali (part 2)

Hello from Sorong, Indonesia!

Flight 5 & 6 out of 18 completed this morning in stressful fashion! Ugh, Our connecting flight was cancelled, they rebooked us on a flight that boarded about the time we would land, we had to retrieve and recheck our bags and make the flight in Makassar.  It was nuts!  In the end, a guy took our bags confirming "Sorong", no bag tags - nada and we literally RAN to the gate.  I was calmly optimistic - Carsten was a hot mess.  I figured we had a 60% chance the bags would make it .... and I could do nothing about it so ....

We were super happy to see those bags!

Hooray!

Ok then, back to Bali for a moment.

On Tuesday we had a casual day of pool time. Nothing big to report but it was relaxing!

Yesterday Alex again picked us up and we were off to go Cave Tubing. This was not white-water by any stretch of the imagination but it was historically interesting for sure!  The "canal" we tubed in, with many caves - some so low we had to lie down in our tubes or risk skinning the nose - were built by the Japanese during their occupation of Bali during WW2.

The water was cool and refreshing as it meandered along.  It was a nice break from the heat. Inside the caves, swallows and geckos made their home.

Next stop was Ubud Monkey Forest.  This forest is home to over 1200 monkeys.  They are not aggressive as the ones at Kekac were but still the rule is to "never look the monkey in the eye".

Unless you want  a selfie -

He is open for business!

The forest was lush and green and filled with statuary.

This happy lady made me laugh!

A cute monkey family - her hair-do looks like they are about to go out for dinner or something.  The little monkeys that are Black are 0-4 months old.

These monkeys are definately in each other's business.

We think these are Banyan trees... pretty sure.

Another little guy, holding on for dear life!

After saying goodbye to Alex we went to our favorite place to eat - Angry Chicken!  It was just up the street - only hard part was crossing the street with it's thousands of scooters!

Finally, a sunset on the beach, it did not really face East but the sky was gorgeous!

Now in Sorong, trying to stay cool.  Folks, a lot of time is spent in a room with weak AC wearing nothing but underwear.

With that image in mind we wish you a wonderful day!

Sheri & Carsten
