Pura Vida!! First days from Costa Rica!

Hello from Costa Rica - or as the locals say "Pura Vida"!  Apparently this means hello, goodbye, I'm good, how are you?, etc!

We had an early flight to beat the rush at the airport.

Travel days are never too much fun but the reward at the end was this view from our house in Quepos.

It was a 3 hour drive from San Jose Airport to Quepos. We stopped for pictures along the way.  This one was in Jaco.

Our driver stopped for lunch at a fabulous place.  We had the local shot Guaro, Margaritas and Imperial beer.

There was a tropical Storm Bonnie that was causing problems but we managed to use the pool and get some rays!

One of the stops along the way was to have a look at the (very fat) crocodiles.  This was actually very cool because we only have alligators in the US.

The first night we had a sunset cruise.  We had a lovely time and even saw dolphins along side the boat.  There were several and it was fun to watch them!

There is wildlife everywhere and the house instructions tell us to make sure that all the food is secured.  We have chips stored in the dishwasher and everything else is crammed in the fridge.  This is because the house is open to the outside and the spider monkeys will come in and help themselves.  These are some of our neighbors ...

This is the marina.

Dinner out at Cuba Libre... I am ordering fish everywhere and it is so fresh and amazing!

The fishing on July 2 was a bust.  The weather was terrible and the boat captain called the fishing off.  We kind of hung around the house and waited for the weather to clear enough to get in the pool.

On Sunday we went ziplining.  It was super fun (the Zanders went to the beach instead).  There were 9 zip lines, a tarzan swing and a repelling line.  Carsten got some great video ... that I cannot upload.  Sorry.  Here is the gang all ready to zip!

Part of the package deal is 2 nights with a chef.  They prepared the most delicious meal for us right in our house.  We started with ceviche and lobster bisque followed by red snapper with potatoes and asparagus and the choice of flan or chocolate lava cake for dessert!  It was amazing!

Today (7/4) Carsten, James, Kathy and I went fishing.  Here is an action shot of James .... turns out it was not a fish.... actually, there were no fish today at all. :(
It was nice out on the boat ... other than the onboard toilet ... ask me about that some time... LOL

Linda, Paul, Joni and Wayne did a coffee plantation / ATV tour.  They had a great time!  Everyone got to drive up and down the mountains and no one got too dirty!

Tomorrow we go whitewater rafting!

Pura Vida!
