More Glacier!

 Hello!

We are enjoying Glacier NP very much!  We are experiencing a lot of haze from the fires on the west coast.  That has definitely impacted our scenery. :(

Yesterday we slept in, chilled out at "home", and then went on a 2 hour scenic raft trip down the Middle Fork Flathead River.  This river runs along the western boundary of Glacier NP.  We saw some Osprey, as well as ducks, etc.  We did not want to get our phones wet so we do not have pictures of the boat "tour".  It was mild as it turned out so we certainly could have.... oh well.

Today we got up and went back into the park.  We did a 3 mile hike called Rocky Point Trail that was generally along Lake McDonald.

here you can see that the haze is limiting the view.... but i think he is pretty darn cute!

After that hike we decided to head up the western boundary to Bowman Lake.  This involved miles of unpaved / gravel roads.  It was a rough ride ...  our car is as dirty as it has ever been...

The Lake Bowman Trail was about 6 miles total.  We saw some bear scat on the trail that, while not steamy, was recent.  That was concerning but we never did have an encounter with Mr. Bear.

Total steps for today was about 20,400!

There was a little town (est 1914) called Polebridge, MT that we passed by on the way to the trail.  On the way back we stopped at the Polebridge Mercantile & Bakery and got a couple of treats and some little gift items.

We were very close to the (closed) Canadian border...

part of the way we were in Flathead National Forest...

Tomorrow we will see about a hike at St. Mary's Falls.

Take Care,

Sheri & Carsten
