Costa Rica

Hello! Tomorrow, very early in the morning, we leave for Quepos, Costa Rica with our "small gang"!  This trip has been planned for a long time, primarily as a fishing trip.   We will be chilling out in between fishing and excursions such as whitewater rafting, ziplining and coffee plantation/ATV touring.  There is a spa nearby and of course beautiful beaches! We are super excited! Stay tuned.... Sheri & Carsten

Is it still a vacation blog if you are at home? ...

We made it home.  It was not easy, but we made it!  What is the best part of "home"? In no particular order, here is how I am feeling... 1. my pillow! 2. seeing my kids (sorry about second place there guys!?!) LOL 3. it is quiet here (and normally I complain that it is loud) 4. not sharing space with 2,000 people 5. my shower 6. .... did I mention my pillow?! Let's wrap things up with the last couple of days in the U.K. Carsten and I did an interesting excursion to the Lulworth Rocks.  It is on the UNESCO list of natural places of "Outstanding Universal Value'.  It is basically a coastline with super old rocks.  The movement of the tectonic plates crumpled the rock bed to form tilted rocks and folds, leaving them exposed for our observation. These rocks were formed between 150 and 65 million years ago. Enough of the science.... here are some pictures. It was a lovely day with a lot of walking up and down hills.  Great weather and lovely sights. The ship arrived

Wales and Ireland

We started off at the port in Liverpool, England but our excursion took us to Wales.  We saw lovely countryside on our way to Conwy Castle.  We had a lot of free time on this excursion – we stopped for a pastry and coffee, walked around the town wall and had a peek in some shops. The seagulls were huge…. This is Llewellyn at Griffin.  I cannot remember why he is interesting.  The tour guide we had said 1,000,000 words but it was all too much and I could not focus.  I will have to rely on Wikipedia to figure it out later. LOL Lots of great Castle shots. The Welch flag~ We had a very nice lunch at Betws-y-Coed and walked around a bit.  It was nice to stretch the legs after quite some time on the bus.  We saw an old church and cemetery - don't know where the pictures ended up ... oh well! The next day was Dublin.  We again went by coach on a quick tour of Dublin – I don’t have many pictures because looking out the bus is not great for pictures.  My impression is that Dublin is a grea

Glascow & Belfast

After leaving Iceland we had a day at sea before arriving in Glasgow.   First thing we saw was a submarine in the harbor. It was both cool and a little concerning to see a submarine patrolling.   Obviously, it was at the surface. The excursion for the day was to see the Lochs (basically a lake that can be either salt or fresh water) of Scotland.  The scenery was very beautiful.   This is a Castle Invererary across Loch Fyne.  The 13 th Duke of Argyle is in residence there.  He is also the keeper of the keys to the Queen’s Scottish residence.  I guess he is an important dude! This road was built in the 1740’s and of course, they are still working on it!  Construction is universal really! The little houses had beautiful flowers, everything in bloom! We saw a church with graveyard in Loss.  The oldest tombstone that I could read had a death in 1799.  There were many older ones that were illegible.  One more Loch. Next day was Belfast, Northern Ireland.  We did not have a tour scheduled
